Virar-Dahanu Rail Work to Delay Six Trains on October 11

Virar-Dahanu railway work will disrupt several train services on October 11, 2026, with six trains expected to run between 30 minutes and one hour 45 minutes late and three services facing changes to their originating or terminating stations. The changes are linked to VNG EI commissioning work being carried out as part of the railway quadrupling project between Virar and Dahanu Road.

According to railway information reported by Gujarat Samachar, train operations will be adjusted while the technical work is undertaken. Passengers travelling from affected stations have been advised to plan their journeys in advance and check the status of their services before departure.

Train number 19417, the Borivali–Vatva service, will originate from Vapi instead of Borivali. Train number 19001, operating from Virar to Surat, will originate from Valsad. In the opposite direction, train number 19002, the Surat–Virar service, will terminate at Dahanu Road rather than continuing to Virar.

The six services identified as facing delays include train 12925, the Bandra Terminus–Amritsar service, which is expected to run 1 hour 30 minutes late. Train 12216, operating between Bandra Terminus and Delhi Sarai Rohilla, is expected to be delayed by 1 hour 45 minutes. Train 14708, the Dadar–Hanumangarh service, and train 19217, the Bandra Terminus–Veraval service, are expected to run 30 minutes late each.

Train 12480, the Bandra Terminus–Jodhpur service, is expected to be delayed by one hour, while train 12933, the Bandra Terminus–Vadodara service, is expected to run 30 minutes late. These changes will affect passengers travelling on the western railway corridor, including those using long-distance services that begin or end at Mumbai-area terminals.

The railway work may also affect other services during the operating window. Some trains could be detained for between 30 minutes and two and a half hours, while other services may experience delays of 30 to 40 minutes. The report also stated that 10 to 15 mail and express trains could face additional delays of 15 to 20 minutes because of the impact on train movements.

The Virar-Dahanu Road quadrupling project involves adding railway capacity on a heavily used section of the western corridor. The commissioning of railway signalling or related technical systems is being scheduled alongside train-operation changes so that the work can be completed without maintaining normal service timings on all affected routes.

Passengers using the affected trains on October 11 should verify the revised origin, destination and departure arrangements before travelling. The railway’s stated operational changes will remain the key reference for passengers as the VNG EI commissioning work is carried out.
