VinFast Opens India Electric Two-Wheeler Drive With 50+ Dealers

VinFast electric two-wheelers expansion with Indian EV dealers and charging infrastructure

VinFast has begun its India electric two-wheeler expansion by signing Letters of Intent with more than 50 prospective dealers across 34 cities in 15 states and Union territories, widening the Vietnamese electric vehicle maker’s presence beyond cars into the country’s much larger two-wheeler market.

The company said the proposed dealer network will cover Delhi NCR, Rajasthan and Punjab in the north; Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Uttar Pradesh in central India; Maharashtra and Gujarat in the west; and Karnataka, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh in the south. West Bengal and Odisha will form part of the eastern network.

The LOI signing ceremony took place at VinFast’s manufacturing complex in Hai Phong, Vietnam, during a visit by prospective Indian dealer partners, according to a company statement. The proposed network is intended to support the distribution of VinFast electric motorcycles in markets the company describes as having large two-wheeler populations and significant potential for electrification.

The move adds a new layer to VinFast’s India strategy, which already includes electric cars and a planned manufacturing complex at Tuticorin in southern Tamil Nadu. The company entered the Indian market with electric cars in 2025 and is now seeking to build a wider portfolio in a segment that accounts for a large share of daily urban and intercity travel.

VinFast said charging infrastructure and after-sales services would be developed alongside the dealer network. Anurag Saxena, CEO of VinFast India E-Scooters, said the company would work simultaneously on both areas as the expansion progresses. “Partnering with dealers across marks the beginning of the company’s journey to bring VinFast e-motorcycles across India,” he said, according to the statement.

Vo Thi Cam Tu, managing director of VinFast E-Scooters Overseas Market, said India was one of the company’s most important markets for global growth and that the partnership reflected the scale of its regional ambition.

The company’s entry comes as electric two-wheelers remain a relatively small but expanding part of India’s overall two-wheeler market. India recorded 21.41 million two-wheeler registrations in FY26, while electric two-wheelers accounted for 6.54% of registrations, according to the information provided by VinFast. The gap indicates the size of the market the company is targeting, while also placing charging access, service coverage and vehicle availability at the centre of its rollout.

For cities, the immediate significance of the announcement lies in the proposed geographic spread rather than the dealer count alone. A network spanning metropolitan regions, state capitals and other large two-wheeler markets will determine how easily customers can access sales, maintenance and charging support. VinFast’s next steps will involve developing the dealer network, charging infrastructure and after-sales operations alongside its India manufacturing plans.
