Uppal stadium security and police arrangements outside Hyderabad's cricket stadium

Hyderabad police will deploy around 2,200 personnel, 408 CCTV cameras and two drones at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Uppal for the India-West Indies fourth T20 international, with about 40,000 spectators expected for the match on Wednesday at 7 pm.

Malkajgiri commissioner B. Sumathi said police from several wings would be positioned at stadium entry and exit gates, player areas, dugouts and other restricted zones. Four watch teams in plain clothes will conduct surveillance inside the stadium, while the camera and drone network will be used for security monitoring, crowd management and traffic regulation.

Five She Teams will be deployed at strategic locations to prevent harassment and support women’s safety. Special teams will also monitor suspected drug-related activity during the event. Police have advised spectators to reach the venue early, use public transport wherever possible, purchase tickets only through authorised sources and follow official traffic instructions.

Parking inside the stadium will be restricted to VVIPs, VIPs and authorised pass holders. Traffic police have identified capacity for about 8,000 vehicles outside and around the venue, including 4,600 four-wheelers and 3,400 two-wheelers. Designated parking locations include Jain Properties, Modern Bakery and Agarwal Properties on Uppal-Ramanthapur Road, and TG IALA on Uppal-Habsiguda Road.

Additional areas have been identified near the NGRI Metro-Stadium Metro stretch, Genpact T-Junction, DSL Mall and the LG Godown-Chemveda Junction on IDA Uppal Lane. Police said these locations would be subject to authorisation, and motorists would have to follow signboards and instructions at the site. Authorised parking access inside the stadium will be managed through the LG Godown and EK Minar check posts.

Traffic diversions have also been planned for routes approaching Uppal from Tarnaka, Secunderabad, Amberpet, Ramanthapur, LB Nagar and Nagole. Heavy vehicles may be diverted through routes connecting Bhagayath, Nallacheruvukatta, Chengicherla, Mallapur, Nacharam, Habsiguda and Tarnaka. Further diversions have been outlined around Nagole U-turn, Mehfil Junction, Habsiguda Junction and Street No. 8 in Ramanthapur.

Motorists travelling towards Moosarambagh, Dilsukhnagar and LB Nagar have been asked to follow alternate routes as directed by traffic police. Police said traffic at key junctions could be regulated or stopped during emergencies to facilitate the movement of ambulances and other emergency vehicles.

Authorities have approached the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation and metro rail officials to consider extended operating hours and additional services, subject to operational feasibility. Nagole Metro Station authorities have been asked to examine additional services for spectators returning after the match. Airtel, Jio and Vodafone Idea have also been requested to enhance mobile network capacity wherever required.

The final availability of additional bus services, extended metro timings and any further traffic measures will depend on announcements from the respective authorities. Spectators have been advised to rely on official updates before travelling to the stadium.
