Two Die, Two Seriously Hurt in Separate NH-922 Crashes

Two people died and two others were seriously injured in separate road accidents near Barka Dhakaich village on Patna-Buxar NH-922 in Bihar’s Buxar district on Sunday, with police investigating both incidents and trying to trace a bus driver who fled after a fatal collision.

The first accident took place early in the day under the Krishnabrahm police station area. Raj Kumar, 23, son of Dhurup Koiri, and Suraj Keshari, 21, son of Vinod Keshari, were returning to their village in a motorcycle from Ara when the vehicle struck a middle-aged man on the road near Barka Dhakaich. The man died at the spot.

The identity of the deceased had not been established when the report was published. Police reached the location and took the two motorcycle riders to Dumraon sub-divisional hospital. After initial treatment, Raj Kumar was referred to a trauma centre in Varanasi, while Suraj was shifted to Buxar sadar hospital for further treatment. Both sustained serious injuries in the crash.

The second accident occurred at about 11am near the same village. Lal Bihari Yadav, 65, a resident of Chakani village under Simri police station area, was crossing the highway when he was hit by a bus carrying a body to Buxar. He died at the scene, and the bus driver fled with the vehicle.

Krishnabrahm station house officer Chandan Kumar said police examined CCTV footage from the area and identified the bus. “Efforts are on to trace the driver and initiate legal action,” he said. The police statement establishes that the investigation into the second crash is continuing, while the circumstances surrounding the first collision remain under examination.

The two incidents occurred on the same highway stretch within a few hours, bringing together two different road-safety situations: a collision involving a motorcycle and a person on the road, and a fatal crash involving a pedestrian crossing the highway. The incidents also left one victim unidentified and required the injured to be moved between hospitals, including referral outside the district for specialised trauma care.

Police sent both bodies for post-mortem examination. Officers were also making efforts to identify the first deceased victim and trace the driver involved in the second accident. Further details about the investigation and any legal action will depend on those processes.
