Transrail Lighting has secured new orders worth Rs 927 crore across India and international markets, including engineering, procurement and construction projects for 765kV and 400kV transmission lines, the company said in an exchange filing on Wednesday.
The latest contracts have taken Transrail’s order intake for the year to Rs 3,356 crore, according to the company. The order wins are mainly from the domestic market and include projects involving high-voltage transmission infrastructure.
The company also received orders to supply conductors to the United States. Transrail did not disclose the individual value, locations or execution timelines of the projects in the information released.
The orders are significant for India’s power transmission network, where high-voltage lines are used to move electricity across long distances between generation centres, substations and distribution systems. The company’s disclosed project mix points to continued demand for transmission-line engineering and equipment supply, although the filing did not provide details on the capacity to be added or the number of lines covered by the contracts.
Randeep Narang, managing director and chief executive officer of Transrail Lighting, said the company was focused on building a diversified business across its products and services. “With a strong foothold in the domestic market and an expanding international business, we are focused on building a well-diversified business across our products and services,” Narang said.
Mumbai-based Transrail is an engineering, procurement and construction company primarily engaged in the power transmission and distribution business. Its operations also span civil works, railways, poles and lighting segments. The latest orders therefore add to a business portfolio that extends beyond transmission-line construction, although the company’s announcement identified domestic transmission EPC projects as the main component of the new wins.
The company’s order intake figure is different from its order book value and represents orders received during the year, based on the information disclosed in the filing. The announcement did not state the total outstanding order book, expected revenue recognition or the proportion of the new contracts that will be executed in India and overseas.
For the domestic projects, the use of 765kV and 400kV specifications indicates work at the high-voltage transmission level. However, the filing did not specify the states, utilities, transmission developers or project completion milestones associated with these contracts. Further execution details will depend on the project documents and subsequent company disclosures.
The new contracts also extend Transrail’s international business through conductor supply orders for the US market. The company’s statement said it was expanding internationally, but it did not identify the buyers, delivery schedule or technical specifications of the conductors.
The next material updates are expected through the company’s disclosures on project execution, order completion and further order intake. No additional implementation timeline was provided in the announcement.
