Tiger Shroff Firing: Three Suspects Detained After Mumbai Attack

Police cordon the Juhu site after the Tiger Shroff firing in Mumbai.

Three people, including a minor, have been detained in Rajasthan’s Kota in connection with the firing at actor Tiger Shroff’s car in Mumbai’s Juhu area, while the city’s Crime Branch has taken over the investigation into the incident.

The suspects were detained by Kota police from the Pune-Jaipur Superfast Express at Kota railway station on Monday, after Mumbai Police shared information about their movements with the district authorities. Kota Superintendent of Police Tejaswani Gautam said the operation lasted about 15 minutes and involved the district special team, the Anti-Gangster Task Force and Railway Protection Force personnel.

The suspects were found in the train’s general coach, which reached Kota at 10.17 a.m. Police identified two of them as Ritik alias Roshan, from Begusarai in Bihar, and Rehan, from Sonipat in Haryana. The third suspect is a minor. According to Ms. Gautam, preliminary questioning indicated that the group had boarded the train after allegedly carrying out the firing and planned to travel from Jaipur to Delhi before crossing the border into Nepal.

No weapon was recovered from the suspects, the Kota SP said. A Mumbai Police team has reached Kota, and the suspects are being handed over to the city police. Ms. Gautam said they remained detained at that stage and would be arrested after being taken into Mumbai Police custody. She also said she would recommend rewards for the personnel involved in the operation.

The firing took place in Juhu on Sunday evening when three unidentified assailants allegedly opened fire at Shroff’s car. Police said three rounds were fired. The actor escaped without injuries, while his driver and another person were injured. Mumbai Police registered a case of attempt to murder, which was subsequently transferred to the Crime Branch.

The investigation is also examining a possible connection with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. The Kota SP said one of the suspects had been in contact with Anil Pandit, described as an alleged associate of the gang. The gang has claimed responsibility for the attack in a social media post, but police have not established the authenticity of that claim. A video showing an assailant firing at the actor’s car has also circulated online, though the source report does not establish its authenticity.

The incident prompted a response from Maharashtra’s political leadership. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said he had spoken to Shroff and assured him that the incident would be taken seriously. Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde met the actor at his residence in Bandra and assured the family of security. Mr. Shinde referred to Mumbai’s gang violence in the 1990s and said the authorities would act against criminal networks.

The case now moves from the initial local police response to a wider Crime Branch investigation involving the detained suspects, their alleged contacts and the authenticity of the gang claim. The next official step is the transfer of the suspects from Kota to Mumbai Police custody and their subsequent arrest, as stated by the Kota police chief.
