Thiruvananthapuram district will conduct a special voter enrolment drive from October 15 to 31, allowing eligible residents to register as voters, seek corrections in the electoral roll and request deletions, district collector and district election officer Anju K S said.

The campaign will target people who are not currently enrolled and residents who will turn 18 by January 1, 2027. Forms will be distributed during the drive, while digital help desks will operate at village offices to assist applicants with the enrolment process.

Applicants will now need to submit only Form 6, following the discontinuation of the additional declaration form that was previously required, according to the information released by the district administration. Applications can also be submitted online through the Election Commission’s website or the ECINet mobile application.

The Election Commission has approved 12 documents that can be used as proof of identity, age, address and permanent residence. Applicants submitting Aadhaar as a document must also provide another approved document. They are also required to furnish the EPIC number of a family member or neighbour who is already included in the electoral roll.

After applications are filed, booth-level officers will verify them through house visits. The verification process is intended to establish the applicant’s details and residence before the enrolment request is processed.

The campaign will be followed by a separate “Campus to Booth” enrolment drive from November 2 to 7 in colleges and higher secondary schools across the district. The initiative will use the tagline “Step Forward, Get Counted” and focus on bringing eligible students into the electoral roll.

Electoral literacy clubs in educational institutions will conduct awareness programmes as part of the campus campaign. The outreach is aimed at encouraging student participation and helping young residents understand the voter registration process.

The district administration has not announced a separate deadline beyond the October 15-31 window for the general enrolment drive. Residents seeking registration or corrections will be able to use the village-office help desks or submit applications through the Election Commission’s digital platforms during the campaign.
