TGSRTC Special Buses Bring Dasara Travel Closer to Hyderabad Homes

TGSRTC special buses serving passengers near a Hyderabad residential colony during Dasara travel

The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) will operate special buses from residential colonies, gated communities, townships, hostels and colleges across Hyderabad for groups of 30 or more passengers travelling together during the Dasara holidays.

The arrangement is intended to help passengers avoid crowded bus depots during the festival rush, when students, employees and families leave Hyderabad for their native places. Instead of travelling with luggage to a major bus station, eligible groups can request a dedicated bus from their residential or campus locality.

Under the facility, groups must approach the concerned TGSRTC officials with their travel requirement. If sufficient demand is received from a locality, the corporation will arrange a special service from the residential area itself. The report did not specify a separate booking portal, fare structure or application deadline for the facility.

The service is available to residents of large gated communities and townships where several families may be travelling to the same region for the holidays. It also covers students staying in hostels and colleges. Student groups planning to return to their native places can seek dedicated buses from their campus or hostel areas.

The initiative places the point of departure closer to where passengers live or study, rather than concentrating all festival demand at established bus depots. That could reduce the need for large groups to make an additional local journey before beginning their intercity trip, while allowing TGSRTC to organise services around demand from specific neighbourhoods and institutions.

The corporation’s approach is based on group size and demand. A minimum group of 30 passengers is required, and special services will be arranged from different localities when sufficient requests are received. This makes the facility particularly relevant to housing communities, student accommodation and educational campuses with coordinated holiday travel plans.

The Dasara period typically produces concentrated movement from cities to passengers’ hometowns, and the announcement focuses on managing that demand through locality-based departures. For Hyderabad’s growing residential communities and student population, the measure also shows how public bus operations can be organised around trip origins rather than only fixed terminals.

TGSRTC has not announced the total number of buses to be deployed under the arrangement or listed the destinations that will receive locality-based services. The next step for interested groups is to approach the concerned TGSRTC officials and submit their requirements so that services can be planned according to demand.
