Telangana Scouts and Guides Expand to 3,253 Government Schools

The Bharat Scouts and Guides Telangana State Association has recorded a 176 per cent rise in membership during 2025–26, reaching 47,448 members across 1,494 units, while preparing to expand its activities across 3,253 government schools in the State.

BSG chief commissioner M Dana Kishore and secretary Dr E Naveen Nicolas briefed Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla on the membership growth and infrastructure initiatives during a meeting on Saturday. The officials also informed him about the association’s plans to strengthen training facilities and school-level participation.

A new training hall and auditorium at the State Training Centre in Jeedimetla is expected to be completed by the end of October. The project has received Rs. 50 lakh in corporate social responsibility funding from Bharat Dynamics Limited and Rs. 35 lakh in financial assistance from the Governor.

The facility is intended to support the association’s training requirements as its membership expands. The information released by the association did not provide details on the construction agency, the built-up area or the total project cost beyond the funding amounts announced.

A budget of more than Rs. 25.97 crore has also been sanctioned under Samagra Shiksha and PM SHRI for expanding BSG activities in government schools. The allocation will support the training of 6,000 Scout Masters and Guide Captains and the implementation of scouting and guiding activities in 3,253 government schools.

The programme is projected to involve more than 1.28 lakh students. The expansion will require trained personnel to deliver activities across participating schools, with the sanctioned funding linking the school programme to the creation of a larger training network.

The officials also told the Governor that the BSG State Headquarters at Domalguda had undergone extensive beautification and improvement works. Separately, the BSG Model High School at Domalguda is set to receive major infrastructure improvements through a Rs. 2.5 crore CSR grant from Singareni Collieries Company Limited.

The announcement places the association’s expansion across government schools alongside improvements to its training centre, headquarters and model school. However, the details released so far do not specify the works planned at the Domalguda school, the schedule for their completion or how the school-wise rollout will be phased.

During the meeting, Governor Shukla also launched the new website of the Bharat Scouts and Guides, Telangana State Association. The next stated milestone is the expected completion of the Jeedimetla training hall and auditorium by the end of October.
