Telangana Plans MSME Centre to Boost Technology and Market Access

Telangana plans to establish a Centre of Excellence for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises to help businesses adopt modern technology, access investment and reach national and international markets, IT and Industries Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu said on Saturday.

The proposed Telangana MSME Centre will focus on technology adoption, market access and investment linkages, with an emphasis on promoting products made in the state. The minister said the initiative was intended to strengthen the competitiveness of small businesses and support their expansion beyond local markets.

Sridhar Babu announced the plan while inaugurating the LUB MSME South India Summit, organised by Laghu Udyog Bharati (Telangana) at Taj Deccan in Banjara Hills, Hyderabad. He said MSMEs played a vital role in industrial development and supported the livelihoods of millions of families.

The minister also said the state government had introduced a dedicated MSME policy to strengthen the sector and improve institutional support for small businesses. The announcement adds a new support centre to the government’s stated efforts to improve technology, skills, investment access and production capacity among MSMEs.

The proposed centre is expected to provide a platform for businesses seeking assistance with modern production methods, market connections and investment opportunities. The government has not yet announced the centre’s location, investment, operating structure, implementation schedule or the agencies that will manage its programmes.

Sridhar Babu further announced that the government was planning to organise a monthly MSME Grievance Day. The proposed mechanism is intended to give small businesses a regular forum to raise operational difficulties and facilitate their resolution through the relevant authorities.

The minister also said steps were being taken to improve industrial estates in Hyderabad and its outskirts. These estates form part of the city-region’s industrial support network, where the quality of infrastructure and administrative services can affect the ability of small businesses to operate and expand.

He urged MSMEs to focus on product quality, technology adoption, skill development and production capacity to remain competitive. The remarks place the proposed Centre of Excellence and the grievance mechanism within a broader effort to improve the business environment for small enterprises in Telangana.

Further details on the centre’s facilities, funding, delivery timeline and eligibility criteria are expected as the state government advances the proposal. The planned monthly Grievance Day and the industrial-estate improvement measures are the next stated steps in the government’s MSME support programme.
