The Southwest Monsoon has withdrawn further from Telangana, with the withdrawal line now passing through Tandur, Vikarabad, Hyderabad, Jangaon and Bhupalpally, according to the Meteorological Centre, Hyderabad. Dry weather is expected across the state on Friday and Saturday, with no weather warnings issued for Telangana during this period.
The withdrawal marks a further transition from the southwest monsoon season towards the post-monsoon period. The latest line covers western and central parts of Telangana, including Hyderabad, indicating that the city and surrounding districts are moving into a drier weather phase.
The Meteorological Centre’s update places the development within a wider retreat of the southwest monsoon. The monsoon has also withdrawn from the remaining parts of Maharashtra, as well as some areas of Goa, Karnataka and Odisha. It has also retreated from more parts of Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh.
For Hyderabad, the immediate forecast points to dry conditions rather than widespread rainfall on Friday and Saturday. The weather department has not issued any warning for the state for these two days. The update provides the latest official indication of the near-term weather pattern after the withdrawal line moved across the city.
The end of the southwest monsoon does not mean that rainfall is ruled out for the rest of the post-monsoon period. According to the weather department, Telangana could subsequently receive rain influenced by the Northeast Monsoon and occasional low-pressure systems. The timing, location and intensity of any such rainfall were not specified in the update.
The withdrawal of the monsoon is an important seasonal marker for a city that depends on weather conditions for water management, transport operations and everyday outdoor activity. However, the current forecast is limited to dry weather across Friday and Saturday, with no warnings in force.
The Meteorological Centre will continue to track the movement of the withdrawal line and weather systems that may influence Telangana during the post-monsoon period.
