Telangana has received about 3.55 lakh applications for graduate voter enrolment in two Legislative Council constituencies, well below the 10.36 lakh voters registered in the previous rolls in 2021, with the application deadline set for November 6.
The figures were shared by the Telangana Chief Electoral Officer as electoral rolls are prepared for the Mahabubnagar-Rangareddy-Hyderabad and Warangal-Khammam-Nalgonda Graduates’ Constituencies. Elections to both constituencies are due in March 2027, and November 1, 2026, has been set as the qualifying date for the new rolls.
In the Mahabubnagar-Rangareddy-Hyderabad Graduates’ Constituency, 1,53,745 graduates had submitted applications through Form-18 as of Thursday. Rangareddy recorded the highest number at 43,903, followed by Medchal-Malkajgiri with 28,733. Hyderabad recorded 17,165 applications.
The constituency had 5,31,268 registered voters in 2021. That roll included 3,36,256 men, 1,94,944 women and 68 transgender voters, according to the information cited by Telangana Today.
The Warangal-Khammam-Nalgonda Graduates’ Constituency received 2,01,966 Form-18 applications. Nalgonda accounted for the highest number at 38,645, followed by Khammam with 29,850 applications. The constituency had 5,05,565 registered graduates in 2021, including 3,32,634 men, 1,72,864 women and 67 transgender voters.
Graduate voters can apply online through the Telangana Chief Electoral Officer’s website, ceotelangana.nic.in. Applications may also be submitted in person to Electoral Registration Officers, Assistant Electoral Registration Officers, designated officers or additional designated officers. The forms can alternatively be sent by post to the relevant electoral registration office.
Applicants whose names are already included in the existing electoral rolls can use the modified Form-18. However, an Electors Photo Identity Card number is not mandatory for enrolment in the Graduates’ Constituencies. Each application must include authenticated copies of the required documents and certificates. The election authorities have clarified that merely referring to an entry in an existing electoral roll will not be sufficient to establish eligibility.
The schedule gives voters a further opportunity to check their inclusion after the initial application stage. Draft electoral rolls are scheduled to be published on November 25. Claims and objections can be filed from November 25 to December 10, and the authorities are scheduled to dispose of them by December 25.
The final electoral rolls for the two constituencies are scheduled for publication on December 30. The enrolment exercise will determine the electorate for the graduate constituencies ahead of the March 2027 elections.
