Telangana ACB Finds Rs.2.28 Crore Assets in Inspector’s DA Case

Telangana ACB DA case involving property searches linked to a Keesara police inspector

The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau has registered a disproportionate-assets case against Keesara police inspector Arkapally Anjaneyulu after searches allegedly found property, cash, gold and other assets estimated at Rs.2.28 crore. The action follows his arrest last month in a bribery case involving an alleged demand for Rs.8 lakh.

According to the ACB, the case was registered under Section 13(1)(b) read with Section 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. The provisions relate to the possession of assets disproportionate to a public servant’s known sources of income and the associated punishment for such an offence.

Searches were conducted on Saturday at Anjaneyulu’s house and office, as well as at four other locations linked to his relatives, associates and alleged benamidars, the ACB said. Investigators recovered property documents relating to residential and agricultural assets, along with cash, gold ornaments, a car, household articles and electronic equipment.

The properties listed by the agency include two 150-square-yard plots with an old house at Lingojiguda in Saroornagar, valued at Rs.30 lakh; an old 240-square-yard house at CR Enclave in Mansoorabad, valued at Rs.40 lakh; and an under-construction 180-square-yard house at Perur village, valued at Rs.50 lakh. The ACB also identified two acres of agricultural land at Haliya in Miryalguda, valued at Rs.80 lakh.

The agency said further enquiries indicated that Anjaneyulu had acquired additional agricultural land at Haliya. It added that the market value of the properties could be significantly higher than their official valuation. The searches also yielded Rs.7 lakh in cash, 60 tulas of gold ornaments valued at approximately Rs.5 lakh, a car valued at around Rs.6.50 lakh, and household articles and electronic gadgets valued at Rs.10 lakh.

The disproportionate-assets investigation follows a trap operation on September 16, when Anjaneyulu, then serving as inspector at Keesara police station, was allegedly caught demanding Rs.8 lakh and accepting Rs.5 lakh through Keesara sub-inspector D. Gyanender Reddy in exchange for an official favour. Anjaneyulu was arrested on September 17 and produced before the ACB court. He is currently lodged in Chanchalguda Central Prison.

The latest case highlights the dual track followed in public-corruption investigations: an immediate bribery case based on an alleged transaction and a broader assets inquiry examining whether a public servant’s property holdings correspond with known income. In this case, the ACB’s property assessment remains subject to further verification, particularly because the agency said additional assets may still be identified.

The ACB said Anjaneyulu would be produced before the court on a production warrant. Further verification of the assets and the investigation into their alleged sources are underway.
