Tata Steel Colors has launched its Colorcoat range of pre-painted steel products in India, targeting infrastructure, industrial, commercial and institutional projects with coatings customised for the country’s hot and warm climates.
The product range combines pre-painted steel with coating technology designed to improve colour and gloss retention, corrosion protection, cut-edge protection and scratch resistance, according to the company. Tata Steel said the solutions are intended to provide long-term aesthetic performance alongside durability, thermal performance and sustainability.
Colorcoat will be manufactured at Tata Steel’s Jamshedpur facility and sold in India as well as overseas markets. The launch brings the company’s globally recognised range, which Tata Steel described as being backed by decades of European expertise, to a domestic market where pre-painted steel is used across roofing, wall cladding and building-envelope applications.
The products are designed for a broad set of uses, including metro and transit infrastructure, ports, warehouses, distribution centres, manufacturing and automotive facilities, commercial spaces, defence projects and modern institutional buildings. These applications place building-envelope materials in settings where resistance to weather, surface wear and corrosion can influence maintenance requirements and the service life of external surfaces.
Praveen V Thampi, managing director of Tata Steel Colors, said the company’s objective was to provide access to advanced global solutions that could help Indian infrastructure set new standards internationally. The company said its India-customised coating technology is intended to address the requirements of local climatic conditions while retaining the visual and performance characteristics associated with the Colorcoat range.
The launch also places greater emphasis on the role of roofing and wall-cladding materials in infrastructure delivery. Beyond structural steel, these components affect how buildings respond to heat, moisture, surface damage and long-term exposure. For infrastructure operators and project developers, the stated product attributes are relevant to the selection of materials for large facilities, transport assets and industrial buildings.
Tata Steel Colors has not disclosed in the supplied announcement the manufacturing capacity planned for Colorcoat, the investment associated with the Jamshedpur production line, product pricing or specific project orders. The company’s immediate stated next step is to manufacture and market the range in India and international markets.
