Tamil Nadu Voter List Revision Opens November 12, Final Roll on January 4

Tamil Nadu voter list revision notice at an election registration office

Tamil Nadu’s electoral roll revision will begin on November 12, with residents able to apply for additions, deletions, corrections and address changes until December 11, Chief Electoral Officer Archana Patnaik has said. The final voter list will be published on January 4, 2027.

The revision is being conducted with January 1, 2027, as the qualifying date for voter eligibility, following an announcement by the Election Commission of India. Before the draft rolls are issued, polling stations across Tamil Nadu are scheduled to be rationalised and revised by November 2.

An integrated draft electoral roll will be published on November 12. Voters and other eligible applicants can submit claims and objections against the draft until December 11. Election authorities are required to dispose of these applications by December 28.

The process covers several types of applications. Residents can seek inclusion of their names, deletion of names, correction of voter details or changes to their address. Applications can be submitted at polling stations, offices of Electoral Registration Officers and Assistant Electoral Registration Officers on government working days.

Applications will also be accepted during special camps conducted at polling stations. Applicants seeking inclusion of a name must submit proof of residence and age along with the relevant form, according to the statement reported by Dinamalar.

The Election Commission’s voter portal, voterportal.eci.gov.in, and the ECINET mobile application will provide online application options. The online channel is intended to allow eligible residents to submit requests without visiting an election office, while physical applications remain available through polling-level and registration offices.

The revision will also cover people who will turn 18 on January 1, April 1, July 1 or October 1, 2027. Those who meet the eligibility requirement on any of these qualifying dates, as well as people whose names are not currently included in the electoral roll, can apply for registration.

The schedule creates a defined sequence for the state’s electoral administration: polling-station revisions by November 2, publication of the draft roll on November 12, claims and objections until December 11, disposal of applications by December 28 and publication of the final roll on January 4. This sequence is intended to give residents a formal window to check their details and seek changes before the final list is issued.

The Chief Electoral Officer has urged eligible voters to participate in the revision and cooperate with election officials. Residents who have moved address, identified errors in their details or become eligible for registration will need to use the designated forms or the online channels during the specified period.
