South Solapur Water Plan Excludes 21 Villages, MLA Seeks Action

A demand to include 21 villages in South Solapur’s water-scarcity action plan has been submitted to the South Solapur Panchayat Samiti, after the villages were left out of a plan prepared for the October-December 2026 period.

MLA Subhash Deshmukh submitted the representation to the Panchayat Samiti’s block development officer, seeking the immediate inclusion of the remaining villages in the plan. The request is based on the possibility of water scarcity in the taluka during the coming three months.

The action plan has been prepared by the Sub-Divisional Rural Water Supply Department for the period from October to December 2026. According to the report, 21 villages in South Solapur have not been included in the plan. Their exclusion could make it difficult for residents to access government measures during a period of water shortage, the representation said.

Deshmukh has sought planning for tanker-based water supply and other necessary measures for the villages. Inclusion in the action plan is required for the administration to arrange water tankers when needed and implement other scarcity-related interventions, according to the representation.

The villages named in the demand are Fata Tewadi, Hotgi Station, Sawat Khed, Hattur-Chandrala, Kulkarni Tanda, Sanjwad, Aurad, Rajur, Hattarsang, Kudal, Vangi, Vadkabal, Akole (M), Mangoli, Gawadewadi, Takali, Chinchpur, Vadapur, Kusur-Khanapur, Bhandarkavthe and Telgaon (M).

The issue highlights how inclusion in a formally prepared scarcity plan can determine whether villages are covered by emergency water-supply arrangements. While the representation seeks coverage for all 21 villages, the supplied report does not state whether the block development officer or the rural water supply authorities have accepted the request, revised the plan or announced a tanker deployment schedule.

Deshmukh has urged the administration to act immediately so that no village is left without access to government assistance during a water-scarcity period. The next step is an administrative decision on whether the 21 villages will be added to the action plan and what measures will be sanctioned for them.
