South Delhi is set for a claimed ₹62,000-crore development push covering roads, flyovers, sewerage, water pipelines, PNG networks, metro expansion, tunnels and an eco-park, BJP MP Ramvir Singh Bidhuri said while presenting an account of recent public works in the constituency.
The announcement was made during the concluding day of a month-long Seva Sankalp campaign marking 25 years of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s public life. Bidhuri said the funds had been provided by the Prime Minister and Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta for the overall development of the South Delhi Lok Sabha constituency.
According to the account presented by the MP, the works include road network upgrades, flyovers, sewerage infrastructure, drinking-water pipelines, PNG pipelines, metro-related expansion and tunnels. The report did not provide a project-wise breakdown of the ₹62,000-crore figure, nor did it specify how much has already been spent, sanctioned or remains under execution.
Bidhuri said the Delhi government had made around ₹6,500 crore available for underground reservoirs and sewer lines in the constituency. The proposed works are intended to address drinking-water shortages in Sangam Vihar, Chhatarpur and Badarpur, where underground reservoirs are expected to be built soon.
The water and sewerage component is significant for neighbourhoods where supply reliability and local distribution capacity remain central civic concerns. However, the statement did not include deadlines, implementing agencies, tender details or capacity figures for the proposed underground reservoirs. It also did not clarify whether the ₹6,500 crore is included in the larger ₹62,000-crore figure.
Another project highlighted in the announcement is an 885-acre eco-park in Badarpur. Bidhuri said the site, formerly used as an ash dump, had been converted into what he described as Asia’s largest eco-park. The announcement did not provide details on the park’s operating agency, public access arrangements, construction status or environmental monitoring framework.
The MP also referred to an eight-lane highway project running from Sarai Kale Khan through Kalindi Kunj, Mithapur, Jaitpur and Sohna, and connecting to the Mumbai-Vadodara corridor. The project was described as costing ₹8,000 crore. The account did not specify the responsible authority, construction timeline or the current status of each section.
The projects span several layers of urban administration. Water and sewerage works require coordination between the Delhi government and local service agencies, while metro expansion, highways and tunnels involve separate transport and infrastructure authorities. The announcement did not identify the agencies responsible for individual projects or explain how the overall funding has been distributed across them.
MLA Chandan Kumar Chaudhary, BJP South Delhi district president Maya Singh Bisht and media head S Rahul were also present at the event. Further details on project-wise allocations, implementation schedules and completion milestones will be needed to assess how the announced investment will translate into operational improvements for residents.
