Schools Shut in Kerala and Karnataka Amid Heavy Rains

Heavy rainfall continues to disrupt life in Kerala and Karnataka, with red alerts issued and schools closed in several districts. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted more rain in the coming days, urging residents to remain vigilant. In Kerala, the IMD has issued a red alert for five districts: Kasaragod, Kannur, Kozhikode, Wayanad, and Malappuram.

These areas are expected to receive very heavy rainfall, with over 20 cm of rain in 24 hours. As a precautionary measure, schools and colleges have been closed in these districts. The heavy rains have led to flooding in low-lying areas, uprooted trees, and minor landslides. Authorities have advised residents to stay indoors and avoid non-essential travel.

In Karnataka, the IMD has issued a red alert for Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts, forecasting heavy to very heavy rainfall along the coastal regions. Schools and colleges have been closed in these districts as a precautionary measure. The heavy rains have caused flooding in several areas, damaging homes and infrastructure. Authorities have urged residents to stay alert and follow safety guidelines. Meanwhile, in Guwahati, the IMD has predicted cloudy weather with a likelihood of heavy to very heavy rainfall over the next two to three days.

Residents are advised to stay updated with weather forecasts and take necessary precautions. The ongoing heavy rainfall in Kerala, Karnataka, and Guwahati underscores the importance of preparedness during the monsoon season. Residents are urged to stay informed about weather updates, follow safety guidelines, and cooperate with authorities to ensure their safety.
