Rajasthan Voter Registration Drive Draws 4.8 Lakh Applications

Rajasthan voter registration forms being processed during an electoral enrolment drive

Rajasthan’s voter registration drive has received 4,80,893 Form-6 applications in 14 days, including 2,12,947 applications from people aged 20 and above, according to data shared by the state’s chief electoral officer. The campaign, launched on October 1, is intended to enrol eligible citizens whose names are missing from the electoral rolls, including young people who have not yet registered.

Of the applications received until October 14, 2,67,946 came from people in the 18-19 age group. The remaining 2,12,947 applications were from citizens aged 20 and above. The figures indicate that the enrolment gap extends beyond first-time voters approaching adulthood and includes older eligible residents who have not been added to the rolls.

Chief Electoral Officer Naveen Mahajan said the special campaign was initiated following directions from the Election Commission of India. Its stated objective is to ensure that no eligible citizen is denied the opportunity to register as a voter. The drive also covers other eligible residents who have not enrolled themselves in the electoral system.

Eligible applicants can submit Form-6 online through the Election Commission’s voters.eci.gov.in portal or the ECINET platform. Applications can also be filed through the concerned booth-level officer. Form-6 is used by eligible citizens seeking inclusion of their names in the electoral roll.

The enrolment drive is taking place alongside the Special Summary Revision of electoral rolls announced by the Election Commission for 17 states and Union Territories, including Rajasthan. The revision is being conducted ahead of the January 1, 2027 qualifying date and is intended to identify eligible voters left out of the rolls, particularly those turning 18.

Under the schedule announced by the Election Commission, polling stations in the participating states and Union Territories will be rationalised by November 2. The draft electoral roll will be published on November 12, after which citizens will be able to submit claims and objections until December 11. Authorities are scheduled to dispose of the claims and objections by December 28.

The final electoral rolls are scheduled to be published on January 4, 2027. The dates give applicants and existing voters a defined window to check whether their names have been included and to raise objections or seek corrections through the prescribed process.
