Central Railway will run four additional unreserved services between Pune and Nagpur on October 19, 20, 21 and 22 to accommodate passengers travelling for Dhammachakra Pravartan Din, which is expected to draw large crowds to Nagpur.
Two services will operate from Pune to Nagpur, departing on October 19 and October 21. Train 01215 will leave Pune at 2.50 pm on both days and reach Nagpur at 7.30 am the following morning.
The return service, Train 01216, will depart from Nagpur at 11 pm on October 20 and October 22, arriving in Pune at 4.20 pm the next day. The additional services are intended to provide more travel capacity during the period surrounding the annual gathering.
Dhammachakra Pravartan Din commemorates Dr B R Ambedkar’s conversion to Buddhism along with around six lakh followers. The event draws visitors to Nagpur from across Maharashtra and other parts of the country, resulting in increased demand for rail travel. The special trains will connect the two cities through a long-distance route covering several major stations.
The trains will stop at Daund Chord Line, Ahilyanagar, Belapur, Kopargaon, Ankai, Manmad, Chalisgaon, Pachora, Jalgaon, Bhusaval, Malkapur, Shegaon, Akola, Murtizapur, Badnera, Dhamangaon, Pulgaon, Wardha and Ajni before reaching their destinations.
Each service will have 18 coaches. The composition will include 16 general second-class or sleeper-class coaches operated on an unreserved basis and two guard-cum-luggage vans. All passenger coaches on the four services will be available for unreserved travel.
Passengers can purchase tickets through the UTS mobile application or at railway booking counters. Central Railway will charge the regular fares applicable to Superfast, Mail and Express trains. Travellers have been advised to check the service schedule and ticketing details before beginning their journey, particularly because the trains operate on different dates in the onward and return directions.
