Pune Land Surveys for HCMTR, Ring Road Get October 30 Deadline

Pune land surveys planned for the HCMTR and inner ring road corridors

Pune land surveys for the proposed High Capacity Mass Transit Route (HCMTR) and inner ring road must be completed by October 30, 2026, following directions issued by Pune District Collector Jitendra Dudi to officials on Thursday. The deadline is intended to accelerate land acquisition and move forward two road projects planned to improve traffic movement across the city.

Officials have been asked to complete joint land surveys, including land measurements and demarcation, along both proposed corridors within the stipulated timeframe. The planned HCMTR will have a width of 24 metres, while the proposed inner ring road is designed to be 65 metres wide.

The surveys are a key administrative step before the projects can progress through land acquisition and transfer-related procedures. The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has also been instructed to submit supplementary documents and technical reports required to secure approval for the transfer of land under the state government’s control.

The district administration’s directions bring together several agencies involved in the projects. Their progress will require coordination between the PMC, district officials and other departments responsible for land records, approvals and land transfers. The survey and demarcation exercise is expected to establish the land requirements along the proposed corridors and support subsequent acquisition-related formalities.

During a presentation on the two proposals, Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Manoj Patil highlighted their potential to ease congestion on several city roads. The projects are intended to provide additional transport corridors and reduce pressure on existing routes, although their progress will depend on the completion of surveys, documentation and other administrative processes.

The meeting also reviewed preparations for the Pune Grand Tour 2027, an international cycling event. Officials said discussions concerning land belonging to the defence and railway departments had received a positive response, providing progress on arrangements connected with the event.

The October 30 deadline now sets the immediate administrative milestone for the HCMTR and inner ring road proposals. The next steps will depend on whether the joint surveys are completed on time and whether the PMC submits the supplementary documents and technical reports required for approvals related to government-controlled land.
