Pune-Delhi trains will operate as scheduled, with no cancellations reported on the Goa Express, Nizamuddin Duronto, Jhelum Express or Sampark Kranti Express, Pune railway officials said on Friday. The clarification follows Northern Railway’s decision to cancel several Mail and Express services before a planned protest in New Delhi on Saturday.
Hemant Kumar Behera, Divisional Commercial Manager and Public Relations Officer of the Pune Railway Division, told the Indian Express that no train connecting Pune with New Delhi had been cancelled. “No trains connecting Pune to New Delhi have been cancelled. This includes the Goa Express, Nizamuddin Duronto, Jhelum Express and Sampark Kranti Express. All of them are running as per their schedule,” he said.
Northern Railway had earlier announced that Mail and Express trains leaving their originating stations after 2 pm on Friday and scheduled to reach New Delhi or Hazrat Nizamuddin between 4 am and 2 pm on Saturday would be cancelled at their source. The cancellations were linked to a planned protest at Jantar Mantar by the Cockroach Janata Party, which is seeking the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
The Pune-New Delhi rail connection includes four services with different operating schedules. The Goa Express, numbered 12779, runs daily from Pune, departing at 4.30 am and reaching Hazrat Nizamuddin Junction at 6.25 am the following day.
The Sampark Kranti Express, numbered 12629, operates on Wednesdays and Fridays. It leaves Pune at 9 am and arrives at Hazrat Nizamuddin at 11.40 am the next day. The Hazrat Nizamuddin Duronto Express, numbered 12263, runs on Tuesdays and Fridays, departing Pune at 11.10 am and reaching Hazrat Nizamuddin at 7 am the next morning.
The Jhelum Express, numbered 11077, runs daily from Pune but continues beyond the national capital region to Jammu Tawi. It departs Pune at 5.20 pm and reaches Jammu Tawi at 9.45 am on the second day of its journey.
The differing departure and arrival windows mean that the effect of a system-wide cancellation order depends on each train’s originating station and scheduled time at the Delhi terminals. For Pune passengers, the railway division’s clarification indicates that the four identified services remain operational despite the Northern Railway order.
Passengers travelling to New Delhi on Saturday have been advised to check the latest status of their trains with the Railways before leaving for the station. The advisory is relevant because train operations and terminal access may be updated as authorities manage services around the planned protest.
