Alandi police have registered a case against eight people, including a religious figure and a reel creator, after a group allegedly performed dangerous car stunts on a public road in Kelgaon in Pune district while filming a social media video. Police have seized the vehicle allegedly used in the stunt and are investigating the case.
According to the police complaint, the incident followed the purchase of a new four-wheeler by Mahesh Balakrishna Madke, a resident of Gopalpura in Alandi, on October 7, 2026. The group allegedly arranged the filming to mark the purchase of the vehicle.
Police said the vehicles were driven recklessly on a public road in Kelgaon, in Khed taluka. The alleged manoeuvres included repeatedly spinning the car in circles. The activity reportedly created a risk for other road users as well as for the people involved in recording the video.
The case also concerns the alleged use of a drone without obtaining prior permission from the authorities. Police said the drone filming violated preventive orders issued by the Pimpri-Chinchwad Joint Commissioner of Police. The report does not specify the duration of the filming or whether any member of the public was injured.
Those named in the case include Madke, reel creator Pratik Shinde of Baramati, Vishal Satare and Yash Mungase, along with four other people. The police have seized the newly purchased vehicle allegedly involved in the stunt.
The case highlights the enforcement challenge created when public roads are used as informal filming locations for social media content. In this instance, the police action covers both the alleged driving behaviour and the claimed breach of restrictions governing drone use.
Alandi police are carrying out further investigation. The authorities are yet to disclose the specific legal provisions invoked in the case or indicate whether additional action will follow after the investigation.
