Pimpri-Chinchwad’s proposed golf club could reshape the planned use of 61.38 hectares in Moshi, with the civic administration seeking to replace 10 existing land reservations with a single reservation for an international-standard facility. The proposal is scheduled to come before the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation’s general body on October 15 for approval.
The land is currently reserved across 10 separate plots for facilities including roads, parking areas and a water body. According to the proposal reported by Pune Mirror, the civic administration says the parcels are largely unused and that development under the existing reservations has not begun. It has therefore proposed consolidating the reservations and designating the combined land for a golf club.
The proposed change follows a meeting at the district collector’s office on September 15, where the reservation modification was discussed. The civic body’s proposal frames the facility as premium recreational and social infrastructure for Pimpri-Chinchwad’s growing population, including IT professionals, business executives, officials, sportspersons and foreign nationals living or working in the region.
The plan is being advanced as Pimpri-Chinchwad undergoes rapid development and prepares for a possible expansion of its civic limits. Seven villages—Hinjewadi, Maan, Gahunje, Marunji, Jambhe, Nere and Sangwade—are proposed for inclusion in the corporation. The administration has cited the expansion of the IT and industrial ecosystem as a reason for creating facilities of international standards.
The wider region already has IT developments in areas such as Talawade, while Pimpri-Chinchwad is also seeing expansion of its metro network. Several major projects are planned or under development in and around Moshi, including an international convention centre, a court complex, COEP-related development and the Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissionerate.
The civic proposal argues that a high-end golf facility could strengthen Pimpri-Chinchwad’s profile as a business and investment destination and potentially support additional commercial activity. However, the immediate decision before the municipal general body is the proposed withdrawal of the existing reservations and their replacement with a golf club reservation across the 61.38-hectare site.
The project cannot move ahead on the proposed land-use change without approval from the municipal general body. The October 15 meeting is therefore the next formal milestone for the golf club plan.
