Six students were injured after groups associated with BN College and Saidpur hostel allegedly clashed and pelted stones on the Patna University campus on Saturday, prompting police to detain three students and begin reviewing CCTV footage.
Three of the injured students were admitted to Patna Medical College and Hospital. One suffered a fractured arm, while two others sustained head injuries. Students from Saidpur hostel, identified as Harsh Raj, Aditya Kumar and Girjesh Kumar, were also injured in the clash.
The confrontation triggered panic across the campus as students ran for safety during the stone-pelting. The incident involved students from BN College and the Saidpur hostel, groups that had also clashed earlier in the week.
Personnel from Pirbahor police station reached the campus after the latest clash and detained three students for questioning. Police said both groups were submitting written complaints, with further investigation to proceed on the basis of those complaints and other available evidence.
Pirbahor SHO Raj Kumar Singh confirmed the incident and said the law-and-order situation had been restored on the Patna University campus. “The students are being questioned and CCTV footage is being examined,” he said.
The police response places the focus on how repeated confrontations are being handled within the university campus. The latest incident follows a clash between the same two groups on October 7, when students Dev Kumar Pathak and Hemant Kumar were seriously injured.
The recurrence of violence within days has increased the immediate security challenge for the university administration and law-enforcement authorities. The campus has had to manage not only injuries but also the disruption caused when students fled the area during the stone-pelting.
Police are now examining CCTV footage and written complaints from both sides as part of the investigation. The authorities have not announced any further action against the students beyond the questioning of the three detainees reported in the incident.
