Noida Hospital Recovers Stolen Newborn in 10 Hours After CCTV Trail

Noida hospital newborn theft case linked to a maternity hospital security incident

A newborn girl reportedly taken from Noida’s Sector 110 Maternity and Child Hospital was recovered safely in Delhi within 10 hours, after police traced the woman seen carrying her away on a motorcycle, Navbharat Times – Noida reported.

The baby, who had been born three days earlier, was reported missing from the hospital’s MCH wing on Friday morning. The report said the Phase 2 police station acted after receiving information about the incident and recovered the child from Delhi later the same day.

According to the report, the woman who took the newborn was captured on CCTV while leaving the hospital. The child’s family alleged that she had visited the hospital a day earlier, conducted a reconnaissance of the premises, obtained the couple’s mobile number and left. She returned the following day after speaking to the family by phone, the report said.

The child’s father, Gautam Chandan, told the publication that the family originally came from Farrukhabad and was living in Sector 32, Noida. He said his wife had been admitted to the Sector 110 MCH wing on October 6 and delivered the girl by surgery on the same day.

The family told the publication that the woman had visited the mother on Thursday evening and discussed a government payment of Rs 4,000 for a first daughter. The family was preparing for discharge on Friday when the woman reportedly called at about 6 am to ask about the baby’s condition. She later arrived at the hospital, according to the account.

The reported theft took place at around 8 am, while the parents were with a doctor completing paperwork. The woman allegedly used that opportunity to take the newborn from the hospital and leave. The account supplied by the family does not establish how she accessed the ward or whether hospital staff were present when the child was taken.

The woman’s account differed from that of the family. She reportedly told police that she had obtained the baby after paying money, while the family denied that any such transaction had taken place. The report did not provide further details of the police case, including the woman’s identity, the sections invoked or whether anyone else was detained.

The recovery has brought the immediate search to an end, but the incident places attention on security arrangements inside maternity facilities, where newborns and recently discharged families require controlled access. The supplied report does not state whether the hospital has dedicated entry checks, newborn identification procedures or ward-level security protocols.

The report said police recovered the baby safely in Delhi approximately 10 hours after the child went missing. Further details on the investigation and action against the woman were not provided in the supplied account.
