Noida and Greater Noida, traffic police have issued an alert for commuters ahead of major VIP visits on Monday and Tuesday. Key roads including the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway, Delhi-Noida-Direct (DND) Flyway, and the Sector 62–18 elevated corridor are expected to witness intermittent diversions and brief traffic halts due to planned security arrangements for dignitaries.

According to officials, the disruptions will begin around 10am on both days to facilitate smooth passage of official convoys, urging the public to use alternative routes where possible. The alert follows scheduled visits by top constitutional figures to educational institutions in the city, resulting in a significant logistical challenge for the city’s traffic management units.

The Vice President of India is slated to attend the Association of Indian Universities’ annual session and a conference of vice chancellors at Amity University in Sector 125, Noida, on Monday. His arrival route includes both the DND Flyway and Noida Expressway — two of the city’s most heavily used corridors. Police expect increased vehicular pressure not just due to security arrangements, but also the presence of academic delegates attending the event.

Later in the day, the Governor of Uttar Pradesh is scheduled to visit Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University in Sector 62, followed by an event at GL Bajaj Institute of Technology and Management in Greater Noida. These programmes are also expected to prompt travel restrictions, especially in the Knowledge Park area, where traffic will be rerouted to accommodate the VIP movement.Authorities confirmed that the governor is also expected to return on Tuesday to attend the continuing events at Amity University, which may again affect morning commutes in central Noida. However, officials have not disclosed the exact schedule of her visit for security reasons.

With growing concerns over congestion and disruption during peak hours, the traffic police have activated a dedicated helpline (9971009001) to assist the public. Commuters can call the number for real-time updates on diversions, affected zones, and suggested detours. The helpline aims to mitigate confusion and ensure that essential travel can proceed with minimal inconvenience. While such arrangements are part of standard protocol during VIP visits, their impact on daily life raises a recurring question for cities like Noida: how can urban traffic systems evolve to ensure security without paralysing mobility? The increasing frequency of high-level events in the National Capital Region demands a more agile, real-time traffic governance system—especially one that accounts for the needs of the working public, students, and vulnerable road users.

In recent years, Noida has invested in smart traffic signals, surveillance-based enforcement, and corridor-based policing. However, the unpredictable nature of ceremonial visits often renders these systems temporarily ineffective. Residents and civic groups have repeatedly called for better communication and decentralised planning to prevent commuter chaos, particularly on workdays. With its rising urban footprint and aspirations to become a model smart city, Noida must balance its infrastructural ambition with everyday accessibility. The current traffic advisories, while necessary, reaffirm the urgency for cities to embed resilience into their mobility frameworks—especially when ceremonial obligations intersect with mass transit.

For now, commuters are advised to plan their routes in advance, stay updated through official communication channels, and avoid the affected roads during peak movement hours to prevent delays.
