A driver and his helper were killed early Monday when a sand-laden trailer rammed into the rear of a stationary trailer on Buxar-Patna NH-922 near Pratapsagar in Bihar’s Buxar district, police said. The crash occurred under the jurisdiction of Naya Bhojpur police station, and both occupants of the moving trailer died at the spot.
The deceased were identified as 25-year-old driver Ramanand Yadav and 22-year-old helper Indrajit Bharti. Both were residents of Maharajganj district in Uttar Pradesh. The impact severely damaged the front portion of the sand-laden trailer and trapped the two men inside its cabin.
Local residents alerted the police after the crash. A rescue operation was launched at the site, but the extent of the damage meant that a JCB had to be used to remove the mangled cabin and retrieve the bodies.
Dumraon SDPO Sameer Kumar Singh said the sand-laden trailer had collided with another trailer parked on the road. “The sand-laden trailer rammed into another trailer that was parked on the road. Both occupants died on the spot,” Singh said.
According to a local eyewitness cited in the report, the sand-laden trailer was travelling from the Koilwar side towards Gorakhpur when the accident occurred near Pratapsagar. The supplied account does not provide details on why the second trailer was parked on the road or whether any action was taken against its operator.
