New Town IT Worker Found Dead in Locked Flat, Probe Underway

New Town IT worker death investigation at a high-rise housing complex in Sukhbrishti

A 30-year-old IT worker was found dead inside her locked flat at the Sukhbrishti housing complex in New Town after neighbours alerted police about a foul smell, prompting an investigation into the circumstances of her death.

The deceased was identified as Apala Pradhan, a resident of Jamshedpur in Jharkhand who was living in the apartment for work. Techno City police broke open the door of the flat on Thursday and recovered her decomposed body.

According to the report, residents had been noticing a strong odour from the locked apartment for several days. They contacted the police after becoming suspicious. Police officials then reached the housing complex and entered the flat.

The report said Apala’s friends had been unable to contact her for some time. Her family members also tried calling her several times from Wednesday but received no response. The circumstances led investigators to examine when she was last seen and whether she had communicated with anyone before her death.

Techno City police have registered a case of unnatural death and sent the body for post-mortem examination. The police have not established the cause of death. Investigators are examining whether the death was a suicide or resulted from another cause, but no conclusion has been announced.

Police are questioning people known to Apala and checking the circumstances surrounding her final days. The post-mortem report is expected to help investigators determine the cause of death and guide the next stage of the inquiry.
