New FASTag Pass Offers 200 Highway Trips for Rs 3000

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has announced the introduction of a FASTag-based Annual Pass. This initiative, set to commence on August 15, 2025, aims to simplify toll payments for private non-commercial vehicles such as cars, jeeps, and vans. Priced at ₹3,000 per year, the FASTag Annual Pass offers private vehicle owners the flexibility to choose between a one-year validity period or up to 200 trips, whichever comes first.

This structure is particularly advantageous for commuters who frequently travel through toll plazas, especially those residing within a 60-kilometre radius of such plazas. The new pass will seamlessly integrate with the existing FASTag system, eliminating the need for additional equipment or documentation.

Vehicle owners can activate and manage their passes through the Rajmarg Yatra mobile application or the official websites of NHAI and MoRTH.  Looking ahead, the government is exploring the implementation of a Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS)-based toll collection system. This technology would enable distance-based tolling, allowing vehicles to be charged based on the exact distance travelled on toll roads, further enhancing the efficiency and fairness of the toll collection process.

The introduction of the FASTag Annual Pass marks a significant step towards modernising highway travel in India. By offering a cost-effective, convenient, and efficient solution for toll payments, this initiative is set to benefit millions of private vehicle owners across the country. As the government continues to innovate and improve road infrastructure, commuters can look forward to a more streamlined and user-friendly travel experience.
