Mysuru Palace entry restrictions will apply on five dates during Dasara 2026 as royal-family rituals, throne-related ceremonies and security arrangements are conducted inside the heritage complex, according to a notice issued by the Palace Board.
Public and tourist access will be suspended for specific periods beginning October 5. On that day, entry will be restricted from 10 am to 1 pm while the jewelled throne is assembled for the Dasara celebrations.
The palace will again be closed to visitors from 10 am to 2 pm on October 11 because of the royal family’s throne accession ceremony and private durbar worship rituals. The notice does not indicate any public access during these hours.
Visitors will face a full-day restriction on October 20, when Mahanavami and Ayudha Puja ceremonies are scheduled at the Kalyana Mantapa. Entry will also not be available to the general public on October 21 for Vijayadashami.
The Palace Board has said that people holding Dasara passes and Jamboo Savari tickets will be allowed entry on October 21. The notice does not specify any broader access arrangement for visitors without those passes or tickets.
A further restriction has been announced for November 19. Entry will be suspended from 10 am to noon while the jewelled throne is dismantled and moved to the security room, according to the Palace Board’s announcement.
The restrictions reflect the way Mysuru Palace operates as both a major tourist attraction and the venue for closely controlled Dasara ceremonies. During the festival period, access to the complex is therefore governed not only by regular visitor timings but also by ritual schedules, security requirements and the movement of ceremonial objects.
For visitors planning a palace visit during the Dasara season, the announced dates are significant because some restrictions cover only specific daytime hours while others apply throughout the day. The October 20 and October 21 closures are the most extensive, with the latter subject to access for holders of designated Dasara passes and Jamboo Savari tickets.
The Palace Board’s notice provides the current schedule for temporary access restrictions. Visitors and tour operators will need to plan visits around the listed timings and ticket requirements, particularly during the main Dasara ceremonies and the Vijayadashami programme.
