The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has introduced three one-day bus tour packages from Mysuru for visitors attending the Dasara holidays, offering scheduled access to religious, heritage, nature and water-based destinations between October 16 and 26.
The Devadarshini, Giridarshini and Jaladarshini services will depart at 6.30am from the KSRTC suburban bus stand. The packages are intended to help visitors travel beyond Mysuru city during the festival period, when schools and pre-university colleges across Karnataka remain closed until October 27.
Devadarshini is the longest of the three routes, covering approximately 325 km. The itinerary includes Nanjangud, Talakad, Mudukuthore, Shivanasamudra, Somanathapura and the Krishna Raja Sagar area. The fare is Rs 400 for adults and Rs 250 for children.
Giridarshini is designed around nature and hill destinations. It covers Bandipur, Gopalaswamy Hills, the Biligiriranganatha Temple, Nanjangud and Chamundi Hills. Adult tickets cost Rs 450, while children’s tickets are priced at Rs 300.
The third package, Jaladarshini, covers destinations associated with water and eco-tourism. The route includes Dubare, the Golden Temple, Cauvery Nisargadhama, Abbey Falls, Raja Seat and Harangi Dam. The 250-km tour costs Rs 300 for adults and Rs 200 for children.
According to KSRTC Mysuru rural divisional controller ST Veeresh, the packages were introduced to provide visitors with an affordable sightseeing option beyond the Dasara events in the city. Tickets can be booked online through the KSRTC website, ksrtc.in.
The services are being planned amid a significant seasonal increase in transport demand. KSRTC expects around 15 lakh passengers during the 11-day Dasara festival and has deployed 700 special buses for the period. The corporation will also operate additional interstate services to important destinations in Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
The tour packages place regional sightseeing within the regular public transport network rather than requiring visitors to arrange separate vehicles for each destination. Their operation will be limited to the October 16–26 festival window, with each route beginning from the suburban bus stand in the morning.
