The Mysuru bus accident killed four people and injured 14 others after a private sleeper bus travelling from Bengaluru to Kozhikode collided head-on with a goods lorry near Periyapatna in Karnataka’s Mysuru district early Friday.
According to a preliminary investigation cited by Indian Express, the collision took place at around 3.45 am. The Kaveri sleeper bus was travelling towards Kerala when it collided with the lorry coming from the opposite direction.
The impact severely damaged the front portions of both vehicles. Two of those killed have been identified as Aftab and Sreejesh, both of whom were from Kerala, while the identities of the other two victims had not been established in the report.
The deceased are believed to include the bus driver and cleaner, although this had not been officially confirmed. Their bodies were shifted to Periyapatna Government Hospital for post-mortem examinations.
The 14 injured passengers were taken to hospitals in Hunsur and Mysuru for treatment. The report did not provide a detailed breakdown of their injuries or their current medical condition.
The bus was operating on an overnight intercity route connecting Bengaluru with Kozhikode.
