MPSC Group B Exam: 84 Candidates Seek Appointments After Probe

Candidates who cleared the Maharashtra Public Service Commission’s MPSC Group B examination have asked the government to continue investigating alleged irregularities while protecting candidates who passed fairly from collective punishment. The candidates, who qualified for secondary registrar posts, said those found guilty should be removed and eligible candidates should be appointed without further delay.

The demand was made at a press conference attended by candidates including Abhishek Chavan, Amit Pawar, Nilesh Sawant, Vijaya Dudhni and Amol Chivate. They said they fully supported the Special Investigation Team inquiry established by the government and were prepared to cooperate with any investigation.

The candidates said action should be taken against people who committed irregularities in the examination, but argued that allegations should not be used to treat every successful candidate as guilty. “Our struggle is against injustice. Take action against those who committed irregularities in the examination, but do not allow honest students to bear the consequences,” they said, according to the report.

The MPSC conducted recruitment for 758 posts under the Maharashtra Gazetted Group B 2025 examination. Of these, 84 candidates qualified for secondary registrar posts. The preliminary examination was held on 4 January 2026, followed by the main examination on 17 May.

The commission announced the results on 14 August and forwarded recommendations concerning successful candidates to the relevant department. Document verification for the candidates was scheduled for 22 and 23 September. However, the process was halted after a government order issued on 21 September.

The interruption has left successful candidates uncertain about the next stage of recruitment. The candidates said they had studied honestly and should be allowed to undergo individual scrutiny rather than face a blanket suspension of appointments. “Investigate us; we are ready for every kind of inquiry. But do not declare everyone guilty on the basis of allegations,” they said.

The government’s Special Investigation Team inquiry and the department’s next decision on document verification and appointments will determine how the recruitment process proceeds. The candidates are seeking a separation between those found responsible for any malpractice and applicants whose results withstand scrutiny.
