The Municipal Corporation of Delhi has ordered urgent repairs at damaged rooms of the MCD Primary School in Molarband village and directed that students be temporarily shifted to a safe alternative location while the work is completed. The instructions were issued by MCD Commissioner Sanjeev Khirwar during an inspection of the area on Wednesday, with repairs targeted for completion by Monday.
Khirwar said the safety of students should remain the priority during the repair period. Officials were also asked to examine the possibility of developing a park within the school premises to improve the learning environment.
The inspection covered a wider set of civic concerns in Molarband, including sanitation, waste management, encroachments, healthcare facilities and waterlogging. The directions place the school repairs within a broader review of basic municipal services affecting the neighbourhood.
The Commissioner asked officials to examine the feasibility of starting an MCD dispensary at the POTA cabin near the Molarband Extension school. The proposal, as reported, is at the feasibility stage and no operational timeline for the dispensary was provided.
Waterlogging on Main Jaitpur Road was also reviewed. Khirwar directed officials to identify its underlying cause and undertake technical measures for a permanent solution rather than relying only on repeated pumping. The instruction shifts attention from short-term water removal to identifying the drainage or infrastructure issue responsible for recurring flooding, although the specific cause was not established in the report.
Officials were further directed to clear waste dumped along roads in Tajpur Pahadi Mines and Molarband and address the issue of stray animals. At Shaheed Bijender Singh Chowk, the Commissioner ordered priority action on beautification, the removal of encroachments and illegal rehri vendors, cleanliness, and proper maintenance of the martyr’s statue.
The inspection brought together concerns that are often handled through separate municipal functions: school building safety, public health, drainage, solid waste, street activity and public-space maintenance. The directions call for coordination across departments and time-bound monitoring, indicating that implementation will depend on follow-up beyond the inspection itself.
The MCD’s immediate next steps are to complete the school-room repairs by Monday, arrange a safe temporary location for students, investigate the cause of waterlogging on Main Jaitpur Road, assess the proposed dispensary and monitor action on waste, encroachments, stray animals and the chowk’s upkeep.
