The Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) has extended the deadline for online applications under its Pune Board housing lottery to October 22, giving applicants additional time after thousands of domicile and income certificates remained pending verification.
The extension applies to homes offered through the Pune Board’s 15% Social Housing and 20% Inclusive Housing schemes. It is the second time MHADA has extended the application deadline. The previous cut-off was October 15.
Shivajirao Adhalrao Patil, chairman of the MHADA Pune Board, said the decision was taken because of delays in the online verification of documents submitted by applicants. According to the board, 3,872 domicile certificates and 2,142 income certificates are still awaiting verification.
The delayed verification affects a key stage of the application process because domicile and income documents are used to establish eligibility for the housing schemes. Applicants who have registered but are still awaiting verification will now have more time before the application window closes.
MHADA said 1,65,028 applicants had registered for the lottery as of October 14. Of these, 1,01,811 applicants had paid the application deposit, indicating that a substantial share of registered applicants had progressed beyond initial registration.
The figures also show the scale of demand being managed by the Pune Board. More than 63,000 registered applicants had not paid the deposit at the time of the announcement, although the supplied information does not specify how many of them were awaiting document verification or had otherwise not completed the process.
The extension provides applicants with a further opportunity to complete their submissions and address pending documentation before the revised deadline. MHADA’s announcement does not specify a new date for the lottery or the timeline for completing the verification of the remaining certificates.
Applicants seeking homes under the Pune Board’s Social Housing and Inclusive Housing schemes will therefore need to complete the online application process by October 22. The authority’s immediate administrative task is to clear the pending domicile and income certificate verifications before the application window closes.
