MCD Orders Urgent School Repairs as Molarband Civic Issues Mount

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi has ordered urgent repairs at damaged rooms of the MCD Primary School in Molarband village and directed that students be shifted temporarily to a safe alternative location while the work is carried out.

MCD Commissioner Sanjeev Khirwar issued the directions during an inspection of Molarband on Wednesday. He instructed officials to complete the repairs by Monday and said the safety of students must remain the priority during the work.

Khirwar also asked officials to examine the possibility of developing a park within the school premises to improve the learning environment. The direction comes as the civic body reviewed a wider set of problems in and around Molarband, including sanitation, waste management, healthcare facilities, encroachments and waterlogging.

Officials were told to examine the feasibility of starting an MCD dispensary at the POTA cabin near the Molarband Extension school. The proposal could provide a local healthcare facility for residents, although the report does not specify the proposed services, staffing arrangements or an implementation timeline.

During the inspection of waterlogging on Main Jaitpur Road, the Commissioner directed officials to identify the underlying cause and undertake technical measures for a permanent solution. The instruction specifically moves beyond repeated pumping, which the civic body treated as insufficient for addressing the source of the problem.

The inspection also covered waste dumped along roads in Tajpur Pahadi Mines and Molarband. Khirwar directed officials to clear the waste and address the issue of stray animals in the area. The report does not provide details of the volume of waste, the agencies responsible for collection or the schedule for removal.

At Shaheed Bijender Singh Chowk, the Commissioner ordered priority action on beautification, removal of encroachments and illegal rehri vendors, cleanliness and the proper maintenance of the martyr’s statue. These directions place the chowk within the broader civic review, covering both public-space upkeep and enforcement against encroachments.

The inspection brought together multiple municipal concerns that are often handled through separate departments: school building safety, drainage, waste removal, public health, street-level enforcement and the maintenance of civic spaces. Officials were instructed to coordinate across departments and ensure time-bound monitoring of the measures.

The immediate milestones identified in the inspection are the completion of school repairs by Monday, the temporary relocation of students to a safe site and a technical examination of the cause of waterlogging on Main Jaitpur Road. Further details on the proposed dispensary, park and permanent drainage measures were not provided in the report.
