Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation Commissioner T Vinay Krishna Reddy has directed officials to act on long-pending sewage, drainage, traffic and road-development issues during an inspection of several locations in the municipal area on October 9.
The commissioner reviewed sewage overflow near Modern Bakery and instructed the concerned officials to take immediate corrective measures. The inspection brought attention to a civic problem that can affect daily movement and public health when wastewater remains unresolved in built-up neighbourhoods.
At LFJC junction in Beerappagadda, Reddy examined the issue of free-left access and directed officials to facilitate smoother traffic movement. The instruction places the junction’s circulation problem within the municipal administration’s current list of issues requiring follow-up.
The commissioner also inspected a stormwater drain outlet at Mallikarjun Nagar in Chilkanagar. The outlet connects to the Nacharam Lake outlet nala, but the drainage flow passes through private land. Officials were asked to examine the matter and take appropriate measures to ensure that the drainage connection functions properly.
The location highlights an administrative and land-related dimension to urban drainage works. A municipal outlet may depend on land or drainage channels that extend beyond a single public facility, requiring officials to examine the route and determine the measures needed for continued flow. The report did not specify the ownership details, proposed intervention or timeline for resolving the matter.
Reddy further reviewed proposed road-development works on the route from Uppal on Warangal Highway to Mallikarjun Nagar via Nalla Cheruvu. Municipal officials were directed to coordinate with the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Assets Monitoring and Protection Agency, or HYDRAA, and take the necessary steps for further action.
The proposed road connection, along with the drainage and junction issues reviewed during the inspection, places coordination between civic agencies at the centre of the next stage. The commissioner emphasised inter-departmental coordination and timely follow-up to address the pending issues and improve civic infrastructure, drainage systems and traffic movement for public convenience.
The municipal corporation’s directions cover inspection and administrative action at this stage. Further details on execution schedules, the corrective works at Modern Bakery, the free-left arrangement at Beerappagadda, the drainage outlet at Chilkanagar and the proposed Uppal–Mallikarjun Nagar road were not specified in the report.
