The deadline for submitting claims and objections to Maharashtra’s draft electoral rolls has been extended to October 26, 2026, giving eligible citizens more time to register, correct personal details or challenge entries before the final voter list is published on November 16.
The extension has been announced as part of the Election Commission of India’s Special Summary Revision programme, based on October 1, 2026, as the qualifying date. The draft electoral rolls for all Assembly constituencies in Maharashtra were published on August 31.
According to the official release cited by Mid-Day and IANS, the process of issuing notices and resolving submitted claims and objections will continue between August 31 and November 10. The final electoral rolls will be published on November 16, as scheduled.
The Office of the Chief Electoral Officer, Maharashtra, has asked eligible citizens, including first-time voters, to use the extended period to verify their details and complete registration formalities. Applications can be made to add new names to the rolls, while existing voters can seek corrections to spelling, address or age details. Citizens can also raise objections to entries that require review.
The extension comes alongside a state-wide enrolment and verification drive. Special four-day camps were held at polling stations on October 3, 4, 10 and 11. A separate five-day campaign was conducted at colleges and universities from October 5 to 9 to encourage young people and first-time voters to register.
The scale of the administrative network involved is substantial. The Chief Electoral Officer’s office has identified 153,000 Booth Level Officers, 7,100 Assistant Electoral Registration Officers, 288 Electoral Registration Officers and 36 District Election Officers to support registration, verification and grievance handling across Maharashtra.
The electoral revision process is intended to add eligible voters, remove invalid entries and correct errors before the final rolls are issued. For citizens, the extension creates an additional window to check whether their names and personal details appear correctly in the draft list rather than waiting until the final publication.
Citizens with registration-related questions or grievances can approach designated electoral officials in their areas. The electoral authorities have reiterated that the revision drive is aimed at ensuring that eligible voters are not excluded and that the final rolls are as accurate as possible. The claims and objections process will remain open until October 26, with disposal scheduled to continue until November 10.
