Larsen & Toubro’s Power Transmission & Distribution business has secured multiple engineering, procurement and construction orders valued at ₹10,000-15,000 crore across India, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, strengthening transmission networks and supporting renewable energy evacuation, the company said in an exchange filing on Monday.
The orders cover high-voltage transmission and substation infrastructure in Saudi Arabia, substation and cabling works in the UAE, and a transmission system in Visakhapatnam. The projects will add to the infrastructure required to move electricity from generation sources to demand centres and integrate renewable power into national grids.
In Saudi Arabia, L&T’s PT&D business has won orders in the 380 kV transmission and substation segments. According to the company, the projects will support transmission capacity augmentation and renewable energy evacuation, helping strengthen the country’s power transmission network.
The Saudi orders are significant because renewable energy generation requires corresponding investment in grid infrastructure. Transmission lines and substations are needed to connect generation projects to the wider electricity system and to manage the movement of power across regions. The company’s filing did not disclose the individual value or completion timeline of the Saudi projects.
In the UAE, L&T has received an order to construct 132/11 kV substations and associated cabling works. Substations transform and distribute electricity between different voltage levels, while cabling connects the equipment to the broader power network. The filing did not specify the locations of the UAE works or their implementation schedule.
The domestic order has been placed by a leading private-sector developer for a transmission system in Visakhapatnam. The project will comprise transmission lines and substations, although the company has not publicly identified the developer or disclosed the specific capacity, route length or delivery timeline in the information available.
The Visakhapatnam project adds to the transmission infrastructure being developed around one of Andhra Pradesh’s major urban and industrial centres. The order also indicates that private-sector power and infrastructure developers remain important clients for transmission contractors, alongside public utilities and government-owned agencies. The filing did not provide further details on the end-use facility or the power-generation assets connected to the system.
“These order wins demonstrate the breadth of PT&D’s engineering and execution capabilities and the ability to deliver complex power infrastructure solutions across geographies,” Joji Sebastian, Executive Vice President and Head–PT&D, L&T, said. He added that the business was responding to growing demand for grid strengthening, renewable energy integration and associated infrastructure by using its technology, project-execution expertise and global presence.
The order announcement comes as L&T continues to operate across domestic and international power-transmission markets. The projects span different technical requirements, from 380 kV transmission and substations in Saudi Arabia to 132/11 kV substations and cabling in the UAE and a line-and-substation system in Visakhapatnam.
L&T shares were trading at ₹3,733.40 on the National Stock Exchange at 9:42 am on October 5, according to the report. The company has not disclosed project-wise values, construction milestones or commissioning dates for the newly announced orders.
