L&T Secures ₹15,000 Crore Power Transmission Order Pipeline

Larsen & Toubro’s Power Transmission & Distribution business has secured multiple engineering, procurement and construction orders worth up to ₹15,000 crore across India, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, including projects to expand transmission capacity and connect renewable energy to electricity grids.

The company said in a BSE filing that the orders fall under its “mega” category. In Saudi Arabia, L&T has won projects in the 380 kV transmission and substation segments. The projects are intended to augment transmission capacity, support renewable energy evacuation and strengthen the country’s power transmission network.

In the UAE, L&T has secured an order to construct 132/11 kV substations along with associated cabling works. The company did not disclose the value of the individual projects or provide a project-wise execution schedule in the filing cited by Business Standard.

In India, the company said it had received an order from a leading private-sector developer to establish a transmission system in Visakhapatnam. The system will comprise transmission lines and substations, expanding the infrastructure required to move electricity across the network.

The orders place transmission systems, substations and cable networks at the centre of L&T’s latest power-infrastructure expansion. These assets are required to transfer electricity from generation sources to distribution networks and to support the integration of renewable power into the grid, although the company did not specify the generation projects or evacuation capacities linked to the announced orders.

L&T’s Power Transmission & Distribution business provides EPC and end-to-end services covering transmission lines, substations, underground cable networks, distribution networks, power-quality improvement and infrastructure-electrification projects. The business operates across multiple geographies and is involved in both high-voltage transmission and distribution-related infrastructure.

Joji Sebastian, executive vice-president and head of L&T’s Power Transmission & Distribution business, said the order wins demonstrated the unit’s engineering and execution capabilities and its ability to deliver complex power-infrastructure solutions across geographies.

Sebastian said the business was responding to growing demand for grid strengthening, renewable-energy integration and associated infrastructure by using its technology, project-execution expertise and global presence. The company’s announcement did not specify the completion timelines, contracting arrangements or expected commissioning dates for the individual projects.
