A fire on the 12th floor of Kohinoor HDIL Building No. 6 in Kurla West injured nine people, including a five-year-old boy, on Tuesday morning. The Mumbai Fire Brigade said the blaze was reported at 6.53am near Kohinoor Hospital and was extinguished by 7.21am.
Eight of the injured suffered suffocation after inhaling smoke and were taken to Rajawadi Hospital, according to the fire brigade details reported by the Times of India. A 55-year-old man sustained an injury to his right leg. All nine people were reported to be in stable condition.
The injured included a five-year-old boy, a 14-year-old girl and a 17-year-old girl. The other injured people were adults aged between 18 and 65. The available information did not identify the specific flat or premises where the fire began.
