Kolkata Traffic Home Guard Arrested in Truck Extortion Case

Kolkata traffic home guard arrest linked to an alleged truck collection case

The Anti-Corruption Branch has arrested a traffic home guard posted with Kolkata Police’s Ultadanga Traffic Guard in connection with an alleged illegal collection case involving trucks, according to a report by Sanmarg – Kolkata.

The agency had issued a notice to the home guard to appear for questioning as part of its investigation. The accused appeared before the investigating officer after receiving the notice, but the Anti-Corruption Branch alleged that he did not cooperate with the inquiry.

Following this, the agency arrested him after completing the required legal procedure, the report said. The arrest relates to allegations that money was illegally collected from trucks. The report did not specify the amount allegedly collected, the period over which the alleged activity took place or whether other individuals are accused in the case.

The home guard was serving under the Ultadanga traffic unit, placing the case within the city’s traffic enforcement system. Traffic personnel and home guards often operate at points where commercial vehicles are checked or managed, making allegations involving truck collections a matter of concern for the integrity of road enforcement and the functioning of freight movement in the city.

The Anti-Corruption Branch is continuing legal action in the case. Further details about the allegations, the evidence collected by investigators and the next stage of proceedings were not available in the report.
