Eastern Railway has announced a set of temporary service changes in its Sealdah Division, including a new stop for Sealdah-Krishnanagar AC local trains at Badkulla, special services between Shantipur and Krishnanagar, and a late-night train pair between Sealdah and Budge Budge.
The Badkulla stoppage will be introduced on an experimental basis from October 12 to December 31, 2026. It will apply to four Sealdah-Krishnanagar-Sealdah AC EMU services numbered 31845, 31846, 31847 and 31848.
The additional stop is intended to improve access to the air-conditioned local services for passengers travelling to and from Badkulla. Eastern Railway has also announced revised temporary timings for two existing EMU local trains in connection with the changes. The revised departure timings at Badkulla and for the affected services were included in the railway’s service schedule announcement.
From October 13, Eastern Railway will operate one pair of EMU special trains between Shantipur and Krishnanagar via Dignagar. These services will also run on an experimental basis until December 31, 2026, providing an additional connection on the route during the specified period.
The railway has further announced one pair of night-hour special trains between Sealdah and Budge Budge until December 31. The service is intended to strengthen late-night connectivity for passengers travelling between the two locations and to provide an additional option for the last leg of their journeys.
The changes reflect the way suburban rail schedules are adjusted through temporary stops, special services and revised timings within the existing network. For commuters, the key operational detail is the limited validity of the measures: the Badkulla stop begins on October 12, the Shantipur-Krishnanagar specials begin on October 13, and all the announced arrangements are scheduled to continue until December 31, 2026, unless Eastern Railway issues a further update.
