KMC Seva Setu Campaign Brings 46 Services to Kolkata Residents

The Kolkata Municipal Corporation’s three-day Seva Setu campaign began on October 2, bringing 46 services from 15 government departments to residents through 157 camps across the KMC area. The campaign will continue until October 4 and, for the first time, will include a Housing Department counter offering support for real estate project and agent registrations under the Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act, or RERA.

KMC administrator Smita Pandey announced the campaign at a press conference at the civic body’s headquarters. The initiative is being organised along the lines of the state government’s public welfare camps, with the stated aim of making several government services available to citizens at a single location.

The new housing counter will allow real estate projects to be registered under RERA, according to the information shared by the civic administration. Facilities will also be available for the registration and renewal of real estate agents. The inclusion of these services brings a formal property-regulation process into a ward-level public service setting for the first time under the campaign.

The 46 services cover areas ranging from consumer protection to food supplies. The campaign will also provide information and assistance related to various Central Government schemes and programmes. The civic body is using ward-level microphone announcements to inform residents about the locations and availability of the camps.

Health services form another part of the campaign. A dedicated health counter will be available at each of the 157 camps. In view of the dengue season, residents will be able to access screening for dengue, malaria and tuberculosis. Electronic know-your-customer, or e-KYC, services will also be offered. Eye camps may be organised where sufficient space is available at a venue.

The campaign places civic access, public health screening and property-related registration within the same temporary service network. Its operation across the KMC area will run through October 4, with residents able to access the listed departmental services and facilities at the designated camps during the three-day programme.
