Karnataka IAS Transfers Reshape Key Urban Agencies

Karnataka IAS transfers affecting Bengaluru urban agencies and the Karnataka Housing Board

Karnataka IAS transfers announced by the state government on October 18 have changed the leadership of several departments and public bodies, including the Greater Bengaluru Authority’s north city administration, the Karnataka Housing Board and the Karnataka State Mineral Corporation.

According to a report by Prajavani, IAS officer R. Latha, who was serving as additional commissioner of the Greater Bengaluru Authority’s North City Municipal Corporation, has been appointed commissioner of the Karnataka Housing Board. B. Dayananda, who held the housing board commissioner’s post, has been transferred and appointed commissioner of the Backward Classes Department.

The reshuffle also brings a new officer to the Greater Bengaluru Authority’s north city administration. Monaroth, who was awaiting a posting, has been appointed additional commissioner of the Greater Bengaluru Authority’s North City Municipal Corporation.

The changes affect several other state institutions. IAS officer M.S. Archana, who was awaiting a posting, has been appointed managing director of the Karnataka State Mineral Corporation. KAS officer Basavaraju, who held the post, has been transferred. Venkataraj, also awaiting a posting, has been appointed managing director of the Karnataka Handloom Development Corporation, replacing additional-charge officer A.B. Basavaraju.

In the horticulture sector, IAS officer T. Venkatesh has been appointed director of the Karnataka Horticulture Department and director of the National Horticulture Mission. Ibrahim Maigoor, who was serving as horticulture director, has been appointed director of Sugarcane Development and Sugar.

The appointments also include changes in the state’s small-industries administration. KAS officer Sayyida Ayesha, who was additional deputy commissioner of Bengaluru Rural district, has been appointed managing director of the Karnataka State Small Industries Development Corporation. IAS officer R. Raghapriya, who had been holding additional charge of the post, has been relieved of that responsibility.

The order has also addressed a pending appointment in the Karnataka Administrative Tribunal. IAS officer Krishna Bajpai, who was awaiting a posting, has been appointed a member of the tribunal. D. Bharathi, who had been holding additional charge of the position, has been relieved of that responsibility.

The reshuffle places new officers at institutions that handle housing administration, metropolitan governance, mineral-sector operations, horticulture, sugarcane development, handloom promotion and small-industries support. For Bengaluru, the changes are particularly relevant because the Greater Bengaluru Authority and its city-level administrative units are responsible for coordinating municipal functions across the expanding urban region.

The report did not specify the effective dates for each appointment, the reasons for the individual transfers or the next administrative milestones for the affected departments and corporations. The new officeholders are expected to assume charge according to the terms of the state government’s transfer and appointment order.
