BRS working president and Sircilla MLA KT Rama Rao has urged Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy to release funds and expedite construction of the permanent JNTU Engineering College campus in Rajanna Sircilla district, warning that continued uncertainty over the institution’s premises could disrupt students, faculty and staff.
In a letter to the Chief Minister on Sunday, Rama Rao also asked the government to direct officials not to issue notices requiring the college to vacate its current premises until the permanent campus is completed or suitable alternative arrangements are made.
The JNTU Sircilla campus was sanctioned in 2021 with administrative approval for Rs 402 crore, according to Rama Rao’s letter. Although 20 acres have been allotted for the project at Mandepalli village, construction has not begun, he said.
The college is currently operating from the premises of a degree college at Agraharam on a temporary basis. Rama Rao said proposals to shift the institution to another private building could create inconvenience for students, teaching staff and other employees. He also said such a move could leave the existing classrooms, laboratories and other infrastructure unused.
The dispute highlights the practical consequences of delays between administrative approval, land allotment and the start of construction. In this case, the permanent site has reportedly been identified and land allotted, but work on the campus has yet to commence. The request for interim protection is linked to the absence of a completed facility at Mandepalli.
Rama Rao said the institution was important for students from Rajanna Sircilla district and neighbouring areas. He asked the state government to release the necessary funds and take up construction at Mandepalli without further delay.
The appeal places the immediate focus on two administrative decisions: whether funding will be released for the sanctioned project and whether the college will be allowed to continue functioning at its present location until the permanent campus is ready. The report does not include a response from the Chief Minister’s office or details of a construction tender, revised schedule or expenditure released so far.
Rama Rao has sought immediate intervention to ensure that the delay in campus construction does not disrupt the college’s academic operations. The next steps will depend on the state government’s response, the release of project funds and the commencement of construction at the allotted site.
