Jaipur Police have deployed more than 500 additional personnel across the city until Diwali to manage traffic and strengthen security during the festive season, with teams assigned to busy markets, congestion-prone roads, checkpoints and patrol duties.
The deployment includes 100 personnel each for the East, West, North and South districts, as well as the traffic police. Deputy commissioners of police will allocate the personnel according to local requirements, allowing deployments to be adjusted in areas facing heavier pedestrian and vehicle movement.
Busy markets and stretches vulnerable to congestion will receive particular attention. Special teams, including the Emergency Response Team, Quick Response Team and other units of the commissionerate, will also be deployed at different locations on a rotational basis.
Police have intensified surveillance of suspicious persons as part of the security arrangements. Station house officers have been directed to monitor hotels and dharamshalas in their respective jurisdictions, adding checks around accommodation facilities during the festival period.
Night patrols and checkpoints have also been strengthened. Vehicles entering Jaipur are being checked, while officers at the deputy commissioner level will inspect checkpoints daily. Their locations may be changed based on local requirements, according to the reported deployment plan.
The arrangements place both district police and the traffic police within a coordinated citywide system. District-level personnel will address local security and crowd-management needs, while traffic teams will focus on movement through commercial areas and roads experiencing increased festive activity.
The additional deployment is scheduled to continue until Diwali. Daily inspections and the relocation of checkpoints are intended to allow police teams to respond to changing traffic and security conditions during the period.
