Jaipur Illegal Fireworks Factory Sealed After 1,432kg Seizure

Jaipur illegal fireworks factory sealed by police after a large firecracker seizure

Jaipur police have sealed an allegedly illegal fireworks manufacturing unit and three warehouses after seizing 1,432kg of finished firecrackers and about 190kg of raw material, in a crackdown ahead of Diwali. The operation was carried out on October 17 under the jurisdiction of Jaisinghpura Khor police station.

Police raided Magic Fire Works and recovered firecrackers of various brands, manufacturing equipment and materials used in production, according to the Times of India report. The premises and the three associated warehouses were sealed following the seizure.

DCP (North) Karan Sharma said personnel from the Jaisinghpura Khor police station and a special police team conducted the operation to curb the illegal manufacture and storage of explosive materials. Police have registered a case in connection with the unit and launched a search for its operator, identified as Zaheer Ahmed.

The action comes after an explosion at an illegal fireworks factory in Kho Nagoriyan killed eight people. The earlier incident has heightened concern over unauthorised fireworks production and storage in Jaipur, particularly during the period before Diwali when demand for firecrackers increases.

The seizure included both finished products and raw material, indicating that the premises were being used for manufacturing as well as storage, based on the police action described in the report. The recovery of manufacturing equipment is also part of the investigation into how the unit operated and whether the required permissions and safety controls were absent.

Illegal fireworks units create risks beyond the premises where they operate. Manufacturing and storing explosive materials in unauthorised locations can expose workers, nearby residents and adjoining properties to fire and blast hazards. In a city setting, the presence of warehouses connected to such a unit can also extend the potential risk beyond a single industrial or commercial site.

Police have not announced the arrest of the operator. The search for Zaheer Ahmed remains underway, while further investigation will examine the seized material, the operation of the unit and the circumstances surrounding its storage and manufacturing activities. The sealed premises and warehouses will remain part of the investigation as authorities proceed with the case.
