Jaipur 100-Day Civic Plan Targets Roads, Waste and Illegal Dairies

Jaipur 100-day civic plan focusing on road repairs and urban cleanliness

Jaipur Municipal Corporation has set a 100-day civic action plan covering cleanliness at around 500 locations, repairs of major roads, action against illegal dairies and meat shops, and the capture of stray and abandoned cattle across the city.

Mayor Sunil Kothari and municipal commissioner Om Kasera directed officials to prepare zone-wise targets and monitor progress regularly under the plan, according to a report by the Times of India. The initiative is intended to improve cleanliness, traffic movement and the condition of public spaces in Jaipur.

The plan brings several recurring municipal concerns under one monitoring framework. Alongside cleanliness and beautification work, the civic body has prioritised major road repairs and enforcement against activities described as illegal and affecting public spaces. The announcement does not specify the roads to be repaired, the locations of the dairies or meat shops targeted, or the number of cattle expected to be removed.

Cleanliness and beautification work is expected to be carried out at approximately 500 identified sites. Officials have been asked to set targets for individual municipal zones, creating a structure through which progress can be reviewed across different parts of the city rather than treated as a single citywide campaign.

The corporation also plans to make ward-level cleanliness festivals more effective. Local public representatives and voluntary organisations are to be involved in these initiatives, indicating that the municipal administration intends to combine departmental work with participation at the ward level. The report does not provide details of the events, their schedule or the resources allocated to them.

Illegal dairies and meat shops have been included in the action plan because of their reported impact on public spaces. The civic body has not publicly detailed the enforcement procedure, the applicable compliance requirements or the timeline for action against individual establishments in the information available about the plan.

Stray and abandoned cattle control is another component of the 100-day programme. The announcement identifies cattle capture as a priority but does not state where the animals will be taken, how many holding facilities are available or what arrangements will follow after capture. Those operational details will determine how the measure is implemented on city roads and in public areas.

The plan also assigns officials responsibility for regular reviews and for monitoring coordination between municipal departments. This makes implementation tracking a central part of the programme. However, the corporation has not specified public reporting indicators, a budget, completion benchmarks for the 500 sites or a formal deadline for each road and enforcement activity in the material available.

The next stage will be the preparation of zone-wise targets and the beginning of the identified cleanliness, road repair, enforcement and cattle-control activities. Progress is expected to be reviewed regularly by the municipal administration over the 100-day period.
